Shrimp and Crabmeat Gumbo

1 T extra virgin olive oil

1 green, red or yellow bell pepper, chopped

1 large onion, chopped

1 jalapeno, chopped (de-seed if you don't like heat)

4 garlic cloves chopped

1 t paprika

1 t onion powder

1 t garlic powder

1/2 t red pepper flakes

salt and pepper to taste

1 T flour

1 cup okra, chopped

1 28 oz jar whole, peeled tomatoes

1 jar lump crabmeat

3/4 lb large raw shrimp

Saute peppers, onion and garlic in a tablespoon of olive oil for 5-6 minutes until soft. While vegetables cook, mix together the paprika, garlic and onion powder and red pepper flakes. Once the vegetables have softened, sprinkle with three quarters of the seasoning mix and salt and pepper to taste. Salute a couple of minutes longer. Sprinkle with the flour and salute a couple minutes more to cook off the flavor of the flour. Add the okra, a jar of tomatoes and a jar full of water (or fish stock if you have it), and the jar of crabmeat. Simmer for 45 minutes. Sprinkle shrimp with remainder of seasoning mix. Stir the shrimp into the soup and simmer for 5 minutes longer until shrimp turn pink. Taste for seasoning. You may want to add more salt or pepper. Serve over white rice and/or with garlic bread.
